The Adani-Gadot group today (Tuesday) completed the purchase of Haifa Port Company from the state as part of the privatization process.
The Port of Haifa is the second largest port in Israel in terms of container handling and the largest port in Israel in transporting passengers and tourist cruise ships.
The scope of handling by the Port of Haifa in general cargo, bulk and cars is expected to grow substantially in the coming years and these areas will receive a lot of weight in the company's investments and attention, the purchasing group said.

The company that purchased the port is headed by Gautam Shantilal Adni, an Indian industrialist and billionaire, chairman and founder of the Adni Group, an Indian multinational corporation based in Ahmedabad that deals with the development of ports and various operations in India. He founded the Adni Group in 1988 and diversified his businesses, among other things into resources, Logistics, energy, agriculture, defense and space.
In May 2022, he entered the list of the five richest people in the world for the first time, when his personal fortune was estimated at over 125 billion dollars, a month later he overtook Bill Gates and rose to fourth place, and later in the year he registered a value of 157 billion dollars and also overtook Jeff Bezos, and Bernard Arnault, and was Second only to Elon Musk.
Adani was included in Time magazine's list of 100 most influential people in the world for 2022.
