Turbulent weather is coming to Germany in the next few days.
A lot of rain means there is a risk of flooding, and there are hurricane gusts at higher altitudes.
The weather maps are reminiscent of the Ahr Valley flood.
Stuttgart - Germany is threatened with a total "winter blackout" in January, as qualified meteorologist Dominik Jung recently warned.
Instead of low temperatures, the values are currently far too high for permanent winter weather.
The prospects for the coming days let the hopes of snow fall further and, on the other hand, announce a turbulent weather situation in Germany.
Heavy rains in the next few days could cause flooding in some parts of the country.
"And in addition to flooding, storms are a big issue this coming weekend," says weather expert Dominik Jung from

.
The weather maps are particularly alarming.

The German weather model expects a lot of rain in the west, southwest, south and center of the country.
In some cases, 50 to 120 liters of rain per square meter should come from the sky by early Saturday morning (January 14), as meteorologist Dominik Jung explains.
By January 25, it should even be 100 to 240 liters of rain per square meter.
"The last time I saw such a violent total rain map was with the Ahr valley flood," says Jung.
However, the meteorologist gives the all-clear and explains that in 2021 the high amount of precipitation fell within 24 to 36 hours compared to now.
By January 25, there should be 100 to 240 liters of rain per square meter.

The flood reporting center in Baden-Württemberg predicts an increase of up to seven meters for the Maxau am Rhein level by Monday (January 16), with individual outliers of over eight meters.
"A larger flood is quite possible here," warns the weather expert.
On Wednesday (January 11) there will also be a storm low - at higher altitudes there may even be hurricane gusts.
From Saturday to Sunday (January 15), the gusts of wind in the country will continue to increase.
The American weather model calculates a violent storm low over northern and partly southern Germany for Sunday evening.
Spring-like temperatures at the halfway point of the meteorological winter
In the night of Tuesday (January 10th) new rain will come up, with changeable temperatures between 2 and 4 degrees.
During the day the values are 5 to 7 degrees and the sky is mostly cloudy.
On Wednesday the stormy low with rain is approaching, but the temperatures are between 7 and 10 degrees in the north and up to 11 degrees in the south.
"So it's still far too warm for the current time of year," says Jung.
Thursday will also remain mild, with temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees.
weekday | Temperature in degrees Celsius |
Tuesday (January 10) | 5 to 7 degrees |
Wednesday (January 11) | 7 to 11 degrees |
Thursday (January 12) | 6 to 10 degrees |
Friday (January 13) | 8 to 11 degrees |
Saturday (January 14) | 6 to 11 degrees |
Sunday (January 15) | 10 to 15 degrees |

Friday (January 13) will be changeable, with new rain and wind and 8 to 11 degrees.
While Saturday will be a little cooler, spring-like temperatures between 10 and 15 degrees await on Sunday - exactly at the half-time of the meteorological winter.
"So there's a lot of tasty weather there," is Dominik Jung's conclusion for the coming days.
