"Great leadership and humility - sharp and knowledgeable in all Torah rooms":
Politicians and senior rabbis said goodbye to the spiritual leader of Shas, Rabbi Shimon Adani, who passed away this morning (Wednesday) at the age of 94.
From Maran the First to Zion, the Chief Rabbi of Israel, the Gaon Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef Shalita: "I heard with great sadness about the passing away of the elder of the generation, the last remnant of the Dea generation, great in leadership and humility, a scholar, sharp and well versed in all Torah rooms, the Gaon Rabbi Shimon Abdani zt'l. Along with his humility, the late Gaon won and worked fearlessly for decades to put the Jewishness of Spain on the line and return the crown to its former glory, Jerusalem lost the vessel of her envy.

"His door is open to everyone, he made many students and planted a path for thousands and thousands by giving resourceful advice and a way of leadership, it is the duty of each and every one to withdraw from his studies and engage in the honor of the elder of the generation that will depart from us, and death will eat forever and God will wipe a tear from every face."
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu: "It was with a heavy heart that I received the bitter news of the passing of Rabbi Shimon Adani zt'l - a great scholar and spiritual leader of the Rabbis of the House of Israel.
Rabbi Abdani, who served as president of the Council of Torah Sages of the Sephardic public in Israel and around the world, was characterized throughout his life by the trait of perseverance.
From a young age he studied his Talmud, gave lessons, led yeshiva and strove to restore the crown of Sephardic Judaism to its glory.
His contribution to the flourishing of the Torah world in our generation is prominent and important.

"Rabb Edani did not seek fame, nor the limelight. He spread the Torah widely with great diligence and extreme humility. From his warm home in Bnei Brak, he went out every day to the 'Torah and Life' yeshiva, whose rabbis and students he devoutly nurtured. The love of Israel that influenced Rabbi Adani will continue to serve in our midst I send my deepest condolences to his family and all his loved ones.
May his memory be blessed."
State President Yitzhak Herzog gave a painful eulogy: "The passing of Rabbi Hagaon Shimon Adani is a huge loss to the world of Torah. I will always remember our meetings, and his deep concern for the whole of Israeli society. Along with his Torah and religious greatness, and his great humility, his unique spiritual leadership was connected both to the root tradition of Israel, And they are to the public of my hearers, to the people and to the country. I send my condolences to his family and his many students."
The Shas movement also paid tribute to Rabbi Adani: "The Shas movement and its head, Maran and Rabbi of the Council of Torah Sages of the LTTE, the chairman of the movement Rabbi Aryeh Deri, its representatives, activists and supporters, are shocked, pained and bitterly embarrassed by his ownership in the heavenly storm of the model of the generation and his glory, Rabbi Rabban, crown of the sages, one of the poets of the Great Knesset, the genius of humility and awe, the purifier of the mind, the founder of the Torah in Israel and in the Diaspora, the fighter of God's wars along the path of the pure outlook, he worked with sublime dedication for our Knesset movement and from which all the flocks will water, the pillar of truth and grace."

Blocking roads in Bnei Brak
In the meantime, in preparation for the funeral procession today around 1:00 p.m., unusual traffic congestion and blocking of major roads in the city of Bnei Brak are expected.
Starting at 11:00, the following roads will be closed:
• Aharonovich will be closed from the corner of Rabbi Rains to Ezra.
• Ezra will be closed to traffic from Rabbi Kahneman to Chazon Ish.
• Nehemiah will be closed to traffic from Ezra to Chazon Ish.
• Chazon Ish will be closed to traffic from Rabbi Akiva to the cemetery including Rabbi Levin St.
• Jerusalem Ave. will be closed to traffic from Ramat Gan to Chazon Ish Bnei Brak.
At the same time, there will be traffic arrangements on the following streets: Aharonovich, Kahaneman, and Givat Shmuel and along Rabbi Akiva.
Also, traffic will be directed on the roads leading to Chazon Ish and Rabbi Akiva in accordance with the traffic regulations.
The Israel Police stated: "We ask the general public who is not participating in the funeral, not to come to the area of the city of Bnei Brak and the roads leading to it until the end of the funeral."
