Hundreds of flights (more than 400, according to the US network CNBC) have been affected and are experiencing delays in the United States this Wednesday.
The US aviation agency (FAA) has reported through its Twitter account that it is working to "restore" the notification system for air missions or Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM), from which the ruling arises.
"We are performing final validation checks and reloading the system now," the FAA said in a tweet.

The agency confirms in that message that the failure has affected the operations of the entire system and promises to offer updated information as they progress with the failure.
According to CNBC, citing the FlightAware flight tracking website, more than 400 domestic flights to and from the US have suffered delays until Wednesday at 5:31 in the morning on the east coast (11:31 in Spain peninsular).
After noon (Spanish peninsular time) the FAA has updated the information with a message in which it clarifies that it is still working to "completely restore the system".
"While some functions are beginning to come online, the operations of the National Airspace System remain limited."
he points out in his message on Twitter.

The Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) is a computer system that alerts aircraft pilots and other flight personnel about hazards on the route or changes in services or procedures at airport facilities.
When a pilot submits his flight plan to the aviation authorities, he is notified by this system of possible risks, from air shows to closed runways, airspace closure notices or obstacles near airports.
Apparently, the computer failure was preventing the system from updating the information, preventing the pilots from receiving the latest relevant information from the airports.
