The prosecutor of the courts in the city of Zahedan, the center of Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran, Mehdi Shamsabadi, announced the seizure of a large shipment of drugs weighing 3 tons.
Shamsabadi told the Iranian News Agency (IRNA): “After months of surveillance and intelligence monitoring, 5 cars carrying drugs were seized along with many weapons and ammunition,” adding: The gang that seized the drugs was aiming to transport them deep into the country.
Shamsabadi explained that a number of smugglers were arrested, and their files were submitted to the competent judicial authorities.
