For four days, the police searched with all means for a fugitive murderer from Bavaria.

The arrest succeeded in France on Monday.

Regensburg – There are scenes like something out of an action film: A convicted murderer fled on Thursday (January 5) through a window of the district court in Regensburg.

The man jumped out of the window during a meeting with his defense attorney, and the police immediately began a search, including a helicopter and dog unit, but without success.

It was only four days after the escape (Monday, January 9) that Rachid C. was arrested again near the German border in France.

Convicted Murderer Recaptured!

In 2011 he strangled a kiosk owner

The 40-year-old, together with an accomplice, attacked a lottery shop in Nuremberg in 2011 and murdered the 76-year-old owner - the case caused a stir in northern Bavaria at the time.

In 2013, the man was sentenced to life imprisonment and was imprisoned in Straubing.

Because of resistance against enforcement officials in the JVA, he now had to answer before the district court of Regensburg.

A police spokesman said the man was brought tied up to the courthouse for a hearing on Thursday (January 5).

The judge then ordered that his shackles be removed during the hearing.

According to

information, Rachid C. had had an alleged foot injury treated with a splint by the prison doctor.

Just before the court date.

Whether he wanted to avoid such an ankle bracelet in the courtroom is therefore not excluded.

He had probably already asked his lawyer for meetings in the said room at the first court hearings.

He therefore raises serious allegations.

Convicted killer had contact with family members in France

Family members of Rachid C. lived in France, according to the

he kept in touch with them using an illegal cell phone from the Straubing prison.

In the past he had therefore also applied to be transferred to a prison near the German-French border.

The police apparently suspected that he wanted to flee to his home country of Algeria.

It is not yet clear whether he had help with his escape.

However, police circles rule out the possibility that he would have traveled more than 400 kilometers all by himself, without money and with an international search.
