The spokesperson of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong pointed out that in response to media reports that officials of the British foreign affairs department met with Lai Zhiying's so-called international lawyer team and made remarks interfering in Hong Kong affairs, it is an interference with the rule of law in Hong Kong. It is a farce of double standards without bottom line.

The Commissioner's Office responded on its website with the title "I would like to warn the UK to stop interfering with the rule of law in Hong Kong".

The spokesperson pointed out that while the British side talks about the rule of law, it uses the case to wantonly undermine the rule of law and judicial independence in Hong Kong. It is a farce of double standards without bottom line.

The spokesperson reiterated that the "Basic Law" and "Hong Kong National Security Law" clearly guarantee the rights and freedoms enjoyed by people in accordance with the law, including the freedom of speech and the press, but rights and freedoms are not "shields" for crimes, nor are they "talismans" for undermining national security. "No one has the privilege of being above the law.

Some British intervening forces have colluded with the anti-China disruptors in Hong Kong at home and abroad, and they are working together to undermine Hong Kong's prosperity and stability, interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs. Their sinister intentions are not self-inflicted, and their political plots are doomed to fail.

Urge the British side to immediately stop all colonial talk and perverse actions that interfere with the rule of law in Hong Kong.

The spokesperson also denounced the British side for unreasonably slandering the Hong Kong SAR's law-based governance, openly supporting anti-China chaos in Hong Kong, blatantly undermining the rule of law and judicial independence in Hong Kong, and violating the principles of international law and basic norms governing international relations. We express our strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this.
