A veritable series of accidents caused the Bayrischzell fire brigade to move out again in the direction of Sudelfeld in 2022.

However, there were no major fires.

A review.

Bayrischzell

– A veritable series of accidents made the Bayrischzell fire brigade repeatedly move out in the direction of Sudelfeld last summer.

From the end of June to the end of August, there were six operations here on the B307, primarily because of motorcyclists involved in accidents.

However, there were no major fires in 2022.

Commander Markus Kirner has now presented the detailed statistics at the general meeting in the Rote Wand inn in Geitau.

His squad had to cope with what was probably the most strenuous week of the year in the last few days of June.

After a motorbike accident in which two people were seriously injured in Sudelfeld on June 23, a participant in the Rosenheim Cycle Marathon fell just three days later and died in the hospital.

The emergency services only had one night to rest, because on June 27th they had to carry out various operations throughout the local area due to the severe storm with hailstones the size of tennis balls.

Series of accidents at Sudelfeld

The next accidents at Sudelfeld followed in July.

First, two bikers collided at the Sudelfeldsattel and injured themselves, then a motorcyclist came off the road in the hairpin bend.

The sad end of the operations in Sudelfeld was a car that fell down the slope on August 22 just before the municipal boundary with Oberaudorf.

The driver died at the scene of the accident.

But down in the valley there were repeated crashes on the main road.

At the end of April, a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a fall on the Rieder Bridge, at the end of November a car overturned at the same place and landed in the Leitzach.

At the end of February, a motorist crashed into a tree stump on state road 2075. He was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

In 2022, however, the firefighting operations of the Bayrischzell fire brigade were limited to a flaming rubbish bin at Hotel Das Bayrischzell, smoke from a tiled stove in the Alpenrose and the almost obligatory false alarms from fire alarm systems and false alarms due to Daxen fires.

In his welcoming address, district fire inspector Florian Dirscherl at least promised that an app would be tested in cooperation with the integrated control center in Rosenheim, which would initially only alert the respective local fire brigade in the event of such reports.

Club life much more active again

After the lean Corona years, the report by the club's chairman Christian Darchinger was much more gratifying and extensive.

From the fire brigade's point of view, the joint dedication of the new vehicles for Geitau and Osterhofen at the beginning of May was particularly noteworthy.

Darchinger also emphasized that the association has supported the community with around 100,000 euros in the procurement of vehicles and equipment over the past five years.

Commander Kirner added that the fire brigade has also acquired a new washing and testing system for hoses and two submersible pumps.

The tributes paid to numerous long-standing activists provided a celebratory conclusion to the meeting.

The former commander and chairman Ludwig Bleier received a very special honor.

The Bavarian State Fire Brigade Association awarded him the Bavarian Fire Brigade Medal of Honor for "outstanding performance in firefighting".
