In Germany it remains too mild for this time of year.
The winter of 2022/23 could be one of the warmest on record.
Munich – There is still no trace of winter in Germany.
A real annoyance for snow fans, the ski season is modest this year.
"The winter of 2022/23 could turn into a total failure," says qualified meteorologist Dominik Jung.
Thus, the forecasts of the US weather service NOAA from last summer would be correct.
Positive aspect: Saving energy is much easier in the mild temperatures.
Because January 2023 is on a record weather record, it could even be the warmest January since 1881.
This is due to the constant advance of warm air, which is why the coming days will remain mild.
Winter weather is not in sight for the lowlands.
We are threatened by high water and strong winds.
According to the forecasts, February could also be significantly too warm.
Weather forecast for Germany
5 to 10 degrees, lots of clouds, little sun and rain
7 to 12 degrees, stormy and wet
6 to 10 degrees, lots of wind and rain
6 to 11 degrees, mixed, rain again and again
7 up to 14 degrees, gusts of wind, hurricane gusts and lots of rain at higher altitudes
6 to 12 degrees, changeable and wet, gusts of wind
4 to 9 degrees, repeated showers, occasional sunshine
5 to 9 degrees, changeable with one Mix of sun, clouds and a few showers
5 to 8 degrees, slightly changeable, rain showers again and again
Weather in Germany: Winter 2022/23 could be completely canceled - but lots of wind and rain
"New Year's Eve and New Year's were warmer than ever since 1881," says meterologist Jung.
And there would be no indication that the weather pattern would end any time soon.
Means: "Mild air masses continue to come to Germany from the Atlantic." Even in the high altitudes of the low mountain ranges there is hardly any time for a snow cover to form.
However, "the potential for severe storms or even major flooding" is significantly higher.
Means in the coming days for large parts of Germany: a lot of rain, mild temperatures and sometimes violent gusts of wind.
Around the 4th of Advent, the current weather situation set in here, since then it has been dominant in Central and Western Europe, so the icy cold from Eastern Europe has little chance of gaining a foothold here.
"Should February also bring a deviation of more than two degrees from the climate mean, then it will be one of the three warmest winters since 1881," explains the weather expert.

But one model gives snow and winter fans hope: The European weather model is expecting a snow front over Germany for next Wednesday.
And that could provide a snow cover at medium and higher altitudes.
However, this calculation is currently still pretty much alone.
