China's neighbor has eased its entry requirements for nationals of 34 foreign countries, hoping to attract more tourists.

The news will delight those who dream of visiting the Gobi Desert and the Orkhon Valley.

Mongolia has just relaxed entry formalities for travelers from 34 foreign countries, including France and European territories.

Nationals of these states will be exempt from visa for any tourist stay of less than 30 days, until the end of 2025. The measure is part of a program, "Years of Visit - Welcome to Mongolia", promoted by the Mongolian government.

As revealed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, the initiative aims to attract foreign tourists to Asian territory.

In 2019, there were a few hundred thousand to tread the Mongolian lands.

With this decision taken on January 4 in the Council of Ministers, the number of countries not subject to a visa requirement rises to 61.

Health restrictions lifted

To travel to Mongolia, travelers must still have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the planned exit from Mongolia.

The latter must include at least two blank pages, recalls Rapide Visa, an agency specializing in obtaining visas.

Beyond a stay of 30 days on the spot, or if one travels for a reason other than tourist, the visa or the e-visa remains obligatory.

In addition, in November, the country's authorities lifted most of the health restrictions relating to entry into Mongolian territory.

Travelers are no longer required to carry out a PCR test or an antigen test, nor to have a complete vaccination schedule against Covid-19, recalls France Diplomatie.
