Greilinger can now make an active contribution to the energy transition: Until January 29, only the villagers can participate in the new PV open space system on the B 472.

Greiling – In conversation with the mayor of Greiling, Anton Margreiter, you can tell how proud he is of the project.

The solar park An der Mühlleiten, a photovoltaic open space system on the B 472, is as good as finished.

And since this week, the citizens of Greiling can make an active contribution to the energy transition by investing in the system with a sum of money - and earning six percent interest per year.

On Tuesday there was post for all households in the community.

"We are proud of this forward-looking showpiece," write Margreiter and his deputy Christoph Kitterle.

The letter explains the project – as well as the possibility of citizen participation.

The citizens should contribute 500,000 euros

As reported, three partners have joined forces to form a GmbH for the project on part of the former military airfield on the border to Bad Tölz.

The municipality brought 17er-Oberlandenergie and Energie Südbayern on board.

The municipality is the largest shareholder with 48 percent.

Of the 1.7 million euros that had to be invested in the solar park, around 500,000 euros are equity.

700,000 euros are financed by a bank loan from the Sparkasse.

And for the remaining half a million, the people from Greiling are now in demand.

“Civic participation was a key point from the start,” emphasizes Margreiter.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.

You can participate with an amount between 500 and 5000 euros

Each villager can participate in the system with an amount between 500 and 5000 euros - everything in between is in 50-steps.

In effect, he grants the company a loan with a term of ten years.

The GmbH repays ten percent of the original loan every year and pays six percent interest on the remaining deposit.

The yields therefore decrease over time because the loan is gradually being repaid.

"You don't get rich with it," says Margreiter, but you strengthen the region and make a contribution to climate protection.

And the interest income is quite impressive.

For example, if you invest 1000 euros, you will have received almost 329 euros in interest at the end of ten years.

All district citizens can only participate after January 29th

Until January 29, only citizens of Greiling can invest money in the PV system.

This is possible online at www.dkb-crowdfunding.de/greiling.

There you will find explanations about the project and calculation examples.

"We would be delighted if the offer were well received," says Adolf Hornsteiner, Managing Director of Solarpark Greiling GmbH.

Margreiter isn't really worried about that.

"People's feedback is 100 percent positive." Many had been waiting impatiently for public participation to begin.

"I have a feeling that this will quickly be oversubscribed." Only if this is not the case on January 29th will all district citizens still have the chance to participate in the plant from January 30th.

Other communities are also interested in the model

Margreiter hopes that the Greilinger example will set a precedent.

Anyway, there is interest.

"You can tell that many - including mayor colleagues - are interested in how it went," he says.

The PV system is scheduled to be connected to the grid in March.

The almost 4,900 modules will then produce around 2.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year.

That's enough to supply a village like Greiling with its almost 1,500 inhabitants – 110 percent.

1200 tons of CO2 are saved per year.
