Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has appointed the two federal judges Rhona Fetzer and Thomas Offenloch as judges at the Federal Constitutional Court.
On Wednesday in Berlin, he presented the resigning judges Monika Hermanns and Peter Michael Huber with the certificates of dismissal and awarded them the Federal Cross of Merit.
"Their very different personalities were a great asset for the Federal Constitutional Court and a stroke of luck for our democracy," said Steinmeier.
Berlin - Fetzer and Offenloch were elected by the Bundestag in mid-December.
Both are "top lawyers from Baden-Württemberg" and "well prepared" for the tasks ahead of them, said the Federal President.
Fetzer was most recently chairman of the 8th civil senate of the Federal Court of Justice, Offenloch worked as a judge in the 6th civil senate of the Federal Court of Justice.
Both are now moving to the 2nd Senate of the highest German court.
