Thousands are planning to demonstrate against the government on Motzash, against the backdrop of Ben Gabir's call for the police to get tough with the protesters, and an unusual incident in Beer Sheva in which a driver drove wildly towards protesters. The level of flames also rose when the opposition called for "civil riots" - which brought an MK from Otzma Yehudit accuse them of "betrayal of the motherland"

MK from Otzma Yehudit: "Issue arrest warrants against Gantz and Lapid for treason" (from Hamsh edition, here 11)

Thousands are planning to demonstrate against the government this coming Saturday night, after yesterday (Tuesday) the flames increased both on the part of the opponents and on the part of its supporters.

Members of Knesset on the left called for civil unrest, while members of Knesset on the right called for the arrest of the leaders of the opposition for "treason to the motherland".

Against the background of the changes implemented by the new government, members of the opposition called to demonstrate against it.

In a tweet by former Knesset member Yair Golan, he even called for a "large-scale civil war".

Following these statements, Otzma Yehudit MK Tzvika Fogel said in an interview on Hammesh Edition in Kan on the 11th that opposition leader Yair Lapid, the chairman of the state camp Benny Gantz, Yair Golan and Bogie Ya'alon "should be arrested" for "calling for war." They would have called for a demonstration, I would have given them the right to demonstrate, but they speak in terms of I am an enemy!" he said. He even emphasized that this is "treason to the motherland", and repeated that this is "ground for arrest".

His words caused another storm, which was addressed by the country's president Yitzhak Herzog, who called for the flames to be lowered.

"The values of the Declaration of Independence are the compass of our country - I will not allow them to be harmed," he said in his announcement.

"This is a sensitive and explosive time in the Israeli public. I am awake to the voices heard from here and there, and to all the pains, worries and anxieties. It does not disappear from my eyes and keeps me busy non-stop."

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu also referred to MK Vogel's words, disavowed them, but at the same time reprimanded his opponents: "In a democratic country, you don't arrest the leaders of the opposition, just as you don't call the ministers of the government Nazis, the Jewish government-the Third Reich, nor the citizens to go to Mary civil".

"Whoever blocks a road should be arrested."

Following the recent demonstrations held in protest of the government's measures, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gabir called on the police to be tougher with the protesters.

"Speaking of lawbreakers, I will refer in one more sentence to what we saw in Tel Aviv, in the demonstration," the minister said at the beginning of a yeshiva of his faction Otzma Yehudit yesterday.

"I am in favor of demonstrations, in favor of freedom of speech, but we have also seen a serious damage to democracy, incitement against minister Yariv Levin, blocking roads," he said.

"I told the command staff of the police, I am in favor of demonstrations, but those who block a road and those who riot, should be arrested and a demonstration in Tel Aviv is judged as a demonstration in Jerusalem, a demonstration of the left is judged as a demonstration of the right," the minister added.

"These are my demands from the Israel Police, to act on the issue of the demonstrations in an equal manner."

Before Ben Gabir took office, in December 2021, he expressed himself slightly differently on the subject.

During a discussion on demonstrations in the Internal Security Committee, he said: "There are rioters and there are rioters. Blocking a road is not terrible. In a democracy, sometimes a road is blocked. If someone throws a stone at a policeman, that's something else."

In another demonstration against the government, which took place yesterday in Be'er Sheva, a resident of the city drove wildly towards the demonstrators there.

He was arrested, and the police said that at this stage there is no suspicion of a run-over attempt, but a suspicion of "violation of order, reckless driving, assault and threats".

One of the demonstrators who was almost hit by the vehicle told Walla!

Because the driver shouted at them "anarchists, you have destroyed the country".

At this point there is no suspicion of a run-over attempt.

"We are in the midst of a dangerous coup d'état," said Brigadier General Assaf Agmon, one of the organizers of the demonstration this Saturday. "Netanyahu and his partners in the criminal government are destroying democracy and the justice system, and their incitement against government opponents almost led to the murder of a protester in Be'er Sheva.

"We do not flinch. Not from the incitement and violence, nor from Ben Gabir's threats of Makhthezis. The coup d'état will encounter an unprecedented civil resistance. We call on the Israel Police to secure the peace of the protestors in the upcoming Mochash.

Ben Gabir's demand to use force against us is clearly illegal.

It is forbidden to cooperate with it," he added.
