A 59-year-old client was allegedly attacked to the point of losing his life by the staff of the La Polar restaurant, located in the San Rafael neighborhood, Cuauhtémoc mayor's office, in Mexico City, according to the authorities.

The capital prosecutor's office is investigating the case.

The victim was identified by Adriana Flores, his companion, as Antonio Monroy from Mexico City.

Flores asked through transmissions on Facebook this Sunday that they stop the aggression because he affirmed that employees were beating his friend in a place that is not visible in the video.

But at another moment he sees Monroy's body lying on the floor, face down, with his head surrounded by what appears to be blood.

Other videos broadcast by local media show the moment a man apparently takes Monroy out of an elevator and throws him to the floor.

Monroy was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, but did not arrive alive.

The capital's Prosecutor's Office reported that it opened an investigation folder for intentional homicide in La Polar;

Experts collect testimonies and evidence at the scene.

It also confirmed the arrest of a person who possibly participated in the events.

CNN has tried to contact the legal representative of the alleged attacker to learn more details of the investigation.

Closing of La Polar restaurant

The mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Sandra Cuevas, said through a video on her social networks that she provides accompaniment to the victim's family and that she will not tolerate behaviors that harm citizens like what happened in La Polar.

Cuevas emphasized that he will legally ensure that this establishment, popular in the downtown area of the capital, does not reopen its doors.

“Place that causes damage to the citizenry, the same will happen in Cuauhtémoc.

People are treated well here.

This is the house of the people of Cuauhtémoc and it is the house of all who live in Mexico City.

You have to take care of them."

The canteen-style restaurant, famous for selling birria, a soupy dish typical of the state of Jalisco, published a brief message on social networks: "La Polar Restaurant expresses its concern about the events that occurred today, January 8, 2023, and undertakes to collaborate with the authorities in the clarification of the facts.”
