Traffic jams drive me crazy.
I'm going to make a tunnel boring machine and start digging…
”, had for example tweeted the tycoon in December 2016. This is how The Boring Company was born, whose objective was to build underground tunnels to eliminate traffic jams in the major cities such as Los Angeles.
Yet six years later, the only tunnels open to the public run just 1.7 miles (about 2.7 kilometers) under the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The system, called LVCC Loop, only works during conventions, such as CES, the world's largest electronics show, which takes place this week in the city of Nevada.
In total, it has three stations: two on the surface and one underground.
