As part of the activities of the health awareness campaign (Don't sweeten it with excess), launched by the Ministry of Health to raise awareness of the harmful effects of white sugar on public health, the Al-Hussein Training Center, in cooperation with the partisan division in the Ghamka neighborhood of Tartous, held today a health awareness event.

The event included an educational and awareness lecture given by Dr. Rima Ismail, an endocrinologist and head of diabetes clinics in Tartous governorate, about the harmful effects of white sugar on health, prevention and treatment of diabetes, in addition to distributing diabetes-specific drugs to the attending patients and conducting a free immediate blood sugar test.

Dr. Ismail indicated that the aim of the lecture is to provide useful and modern information that will help people understand the reality of diabetes, and to introduce the harms of white sugar, and the benefits of quitting it, with instructions to guide existing patients to gain the necessary experiences to cope with the disease and adhere to treatment, in addition to raising awareness of the need to follow a pattern Selim's life.

In her turn, Dr. Mariam Steita, from the Department of Public Health Programs in the governorate, noted the importance of the lecture to spread awareness and health education in the civil society, and to deliver information to the target group of the neighborhood's residents about the harmful effects of white sugar on public health, while answering all the questions raised by those present.

Mrs. Rania Hammadi, who was waiting for her turn to analyze the sugar, expressed the importance of the lecture and the correct information she got about the disease, and correcting the wrong ideas.

A number of attendees expressed the importance of holding disease awareness campaigns to better understand their reality and prevent their dangers, stressing the necessity of periodic examination of sugar.

On the 16th of last November, the Ministry of Health launched a health awareness campaign entitled (Don't sweeten it with excess), which includes holding community events, educational lectures, and distributing guidance brochures on the harmful effects of white sugar on public health, and the need to follow a healthy lifestyle to prevent diseases.
