Senior Inspector Yang Huixian, in charge of the special duty team of the Tsuen Wan Police District, said that the police arrested a 30-year-old man surnamed Jiang in the room for the crime of "drug trafficking".
The arrested man was detained for investigation.
The police believe that they have smashed a drug trafficking syndicate active in the district and cut off the supply of drugs in the Tsuen Wan district during the Lunar New Year.
The police emphasized that they have adopted a zero-tolerance attitude towards all drug activities and will continue to carry out crackdown operations.
The police reiterated that drug trafficking is a serious crime. According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance (Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong), the maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
