Hilgertshausen - Dr.

Markus Hertlein is mayor of Hilgertshausen-Tandern and will most likely be so again in the next six years: for the first time, the electoral community Hilgertshausen-Tandern (WGHT), the CSU Hilgertshausen and the CSU Tandern set the course for this in a joint nomination meeting for the mayoral election on March 2nd.

Why Hertlein can be so sure of staying in office depends primarily on the fact that the SPD Hilgertshausen-Tandern and the citizens' list have assured Tandern that they will not put up any candidates for mayor.

That's why there was a good mood when Hertlein was nominated on Wednesday evening in the Hilgertshauser sports restaurant, where 30 members from the ranks of WGHT and CSU spoke out in favor of Hertlein.

There was not a single dissenting vote, only one abstention, and that came from Hertlein himself.

Good cooperation in the municipal council

Even before the election, praise and recognition rained down on Hertlein.

"He's the right one, he's shown in the past six years that he pushes hard," said Hilgertshauser CSU local chairman Hubert Oberhauser.

Tanders CSU boss Peter Schadl added to these words that Hertlein understood how to deal with the citizens and took the interests of all districts into account.

A sign of the good cooperation and leadership in the municipal council is that almost all decisions were taken unanimously.

Schadl also sees his involvement in the district council as a bonus point for Hertlein.

As a municipal councilor of the WGHT, Florian Bauer found that no one else had such a high level of competence as Hertlein.

Much had been postponed from the previous period, but important projects that Hertlein had tackled should also be able to continue.

The longest-serving deputy mayor in the district, Adi Doldi, also spoke up and explained that Hertlein was already a stroke of luck for the community six years ago and that his work deserves thanks and high recognition.

Hertlein looked back over the past six years and listed many smaller, but also the major tasks in his era, including building a children's house in Hilgertshausen, planning extended childcare in Tander and building the sewerage canal from Tander to Hilgertshausen.

A mammoth project, the construction of the sewage treatment plant in Hilgertshausen, is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2023.

Many future tasks

The 51-year-old community leader, who was born and grew up in the Donau-Ries district in Swabia, Bavaria, studied civil engineering and industrial engineering part-time at the Technical University of Munich and received his doctorate in business administration.

As mayor, he benefited from the fact that he worked for many years in project management in an engineering office and then as a management consultant.

"I see it as a very important aspect that we have laid clear strategic decision-making bases on many issues in the municipal council," emphasized Hertlein, pointing out that the municipal company founded in 2022 brings advantages under public procurement law for the realization of municipal projects.

The procurement of vehicles for both fire brigades and the recent procurement decision for a new LF20 fire engine for the Tandern fire brigade were important to him.

The development of a building land model according to legal/European legal requirements for the purchase and sale of building land, the broadband expansion and the town hall extension are also important to him.

Hertlein hopes that progress will also be made with the construction of the cycle path along the state road 2050 from Hilgertshausen in the direction of Stangenried and that the expansion of the DAH 8 from Tandern to Höfarten will finally gain momentum.

He is proud that the enormous lack of staff in the municipal administration could finally be remedied.

Hertlein sees the creation of a building yard, the development of additional residential and commercial areas, the promotion of nature conservation issues and above all the strengthening of the sense of togetherness between Hilgertshausen and Tandern as tasks for the future.

"Only together can we make a difference in this complex world," said Hertlein in clear words.

He assured the meeting that he did not see his engagement as mayor as a short career step, but as a task to serve the community as mayor in the long term.

"I said that in 2016, and I stand by it as a rock," said the community leader to thunderous applause and added: "I am completely satisfied with my job, I feel knowledgeable and comfortable in what is to be done and what is also important in my opinion.

I'm completely at peace with myself, my situation, my job and, more importantly, with my family."

His last sentence: "I'm still in the mood for it and it's incredibly fun for me".

After opening the ballot box, the election committee counted the votes – there were no dissenting votes.
