An indictment was filed today (Thursday) against a resident of Bat Yam (38) who attacked his wife with severe violence, just because of a divorce proceeding between them.
He was charged with five counts of serious violent crimes.
At the request of the police, the accused will remain detained until the end of the proceedings against him.
From the investigation conducted in the family department at the Bat Yam station, it appears that for several months the suspect resorted to severe violence against his wife on various occasions, while under the influence of alcohol in some cases.
In one of the incidents, the suspect woke up his wife in the middle of the night and started punching her in the face and head, pulling her hair and dragging her.
Another time, he took a kitchen knife and threatened her that he intended to kill her.
At one point, the woman took advantage of the moment when her husband left the room, turned to a neighbor who called the police.
