After Kiel and Co.: are more C&A closures imminent?

C&A will also have to close branches at several German locations in 2023 – including in Kiel, Rendsburg and Elmshorn.

But there could be more.

Cologne – A total of 13 C&A locations in Germany were already closed in 2022 – and many other branches in other European countries also had to close.

The reason is a major restructuring of the fashion chain C&A as a result of the corona pandemic.

Further branch closures will follow in 2023, particularly in the north: Kiel, Rendsburg and Elmshorn.

But that could just be the beginning.

C&A Germany: Will there be more closures?

C&A has already announced three store closures for 2023.

But more could follow.

How many other branches are now threatened with closure?

C&A did not want to provide more detailed information on closing dates on request.

However, further closures have not been ruled out.

"As part of regular analyses, C&A comes to the decision to adjust the store portfolio," company spokeswoman Claudia Junge told 24RHEIN.

In addition to closures, C&A is also modernizing at the same time: “We are continuously investing in our stores to optimize the shopping experience for our customers.

In the past 18 months, C&A has modernized more than 730 stores across Europe,” says Junge.

C&A closes branches: Are locations in NRW also affected?

There is a wave of closures, especially in northern Germany.

But how does it actually look in North Rhine-Westphalia?

Customers at the locations in Cologne and Düsseldorf can breathe easy for the time being, the branches are currently not affected by the closures.

"Branch offices in Cologne and Düsseldorf are not affected by closures or are currently planned," explains Junge.

C&A has not yet commented on other locations in NRW.

Other fashion shops are also threatened with closure: over 90 branches of Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof have to close and there are also currently branch closures at Primark and Görtz.
