The Brazilian government has tightened security measures in the capital Brasília before renewed protests by supporters of right-wing ex-President Jair Bolsonaro.

"A repeat of the events is out of the question," said the head of security in the capital district, Ricardo Cappelli, on Brazilian television on Wednesday.

Accordingly, all police forces would be mobilized in the event of possible seditious acts.

'The Esplanade of the Ministries is already closed to traffic.

There will be barriers, roadblocks and checks,” Cappelli continued.

Supporters of right-wing Bolsonaro have called for a "mega-demonstration to regain power" in all Brazilian capitals on Wednesday evening (local time).

Many Bolsonaro supporters do not want to recognize the victory of new President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in October's election.

Because they suspect fraud because of the close election result, they repeatedly call for military intervention.

On Sunday, angry Bolsonaro supporters stormed the Congress, the Supreme Court and the government seat Palácio do Planalto and caused considerable damage to the buildings.

It took hours for the security forces to bring the situation back under control.

Hundreds of people were subsequently arrested.

Brasília's security chief was immediately dismissed, and public security in the capital was placed under federal supervision by decree.

Things have remained quiet in Brasilia since the security forces broke up the Bolsonaro supporters' protest camps in the capital on Monday.

President Lula da Silva called his predecessor's violent supporters "a group of lunatics who don't understand the election is over" at a meeting with members of Congress on Wednesday.

A suspected organizer of the weekend's riots in the town of Luziânia, south of Brasilia, was arrested on Wednesday, according to reports in Brazilian media.

The supporter of the extreme right is the author of numerous calls for violence on the online networks.

There she also published a series of selfies taken during the storming of government buildings on Sunday.
