Lin Lin, member of the Legislative Council of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong, pointed out that tourist coupons can be issued in the form of QR codes 24 hours after tourists arrive in Hong Kong.
Councilor Wong Ying-ho pointed out that Hong Kong’s economy shrank last year, and tourist consumption coupons were limited to local use, which would help increase the income of some industries in a short period of time.
In addition, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong proposes to exempt genuine first-time home buyers from stamp duty on all residential properties, with a property price cap of 8 million yuan, in order to reduce the cost burden of first-time home buyers.
They also suggested that the government provide the tourism industry and the cross-border passenger transport industry with a "resumption subsidy" to subsidize initial working capital and vehicle maintenance support before customs clearance, so as to help the industry re-employ employees and restore reception capacity.
As for the child tax allowance, the party proposes to increase it from the current 120,000 yuan to 132,000 yuan, which is on par with the basic personal tax allowance.
