Is Salam a minister in the Ministry of Justice? Levin disapproves Israel today

2023-01-12T13:50:32.479Z

The Minister of Justice fears that Amsalem's appointment as a minister in his office may create problems in promoting legal reform • However, Levin is not expected to prevent the move • Amsalem's office claims: He did not receive an offer

Amsalem storm on the way to a solution?

One of the proposals that came up around Netanyahu to solve the Amsalem issue is to offer him several positions in the government, among them - a minister in the Ministry of Justice alongside Minister Levin.

However, "Israel Hayom" learned that Justice Minister Levin is not enthusiastic about the idea of appointing another minister in the Ministry of Justice and thinks that it could create problems.

As part of the proposal to Amsalem, the intention is to appoint him as the minister who links the government to the Knesset and perhaps even as the minister for regional cooperation.

These two positions are now under the Minister of Education Yoav Kish.

Despite Levin's reservations about appointing Amsalem as minister in the Ministry of Justice, he understands the need for the Knesset member from the Likud to join the government and his reservation will not prevent the move if Amsalem agrees to it.

We would like to emphasize that the Amsalem office claims that they did not receive any proposal in this regard, and no such discussion took place.

As part of the thinking about Amsalem's appointment as minister in the Ministry of Justice, there is the question of the powers in the ministry.

Levin is willing to give Amsalem responsibility in the ministry, but does not want to regulate a sweeping division of powers, such as there is between Smotrich and Gallant in the Ministry of Defense, or disperse powers, which could create problems in promoting the legal reform, the first part of which has already begun.

After a period of silence, last Friday Amsalam sent a harsh message to Prime Minister Netanyahu, when he told his supporters at the door of his house: "No one will humiliate me." According to him, "Whoever decided not to grant me the position of Knesset Speaker is the Prime Minister. I asked him, Explain to me why I can't be in the position? He told me stories about Ali Baba, who is afraid that I will settle accounts with the opposition."

"There was humiliation aimed at me here, the same crowd that elected you - elected me," said the Knesset member, claiming sectarian bias.

"I'm not asking for anything that I don't deserve according to the arrangement. You gave Rival Levin trials, you gave Galant security, Eli Cohen the foreigner and where is David Amsalam?! Are you skipping over me? We Spaniards will not be humiliated, by anyone, ever. The members of the Mizrah No one will humiliate, not even a prime minister from Likud."

Levin's office has not yet given a response and it will be attached when received.
