A woman was killed and another seriously injured in a knife attack in Freiburg.
The alleged perpetrator was arrested.
Update from January 11, 4:40 p.m .:
A 63-year-old is said to have stabbed two women in Freiburg on Wednesday morning on the street.
Both were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
A woman died there from her injuries.
Her identity could not be clarified at first.
A 30-year-old was so badly injured that she was initially unable to be heard.
The alleged German perpetrator was arrested shortly afterwards.
He is said to have known at least the 30-year-old.
The police kept a low profile on Wednesday for investigative reasons and announced more information for Thursday.
A relationship act is apparently not excluded.
The police are investigating in all directions, a spokesman emphasized.

The emergency services were initially alerted by people from the neighborhood on Wednesday morning.
When they arrived at the scene of the crime, the alleged perpetrator
had disappeared , according to information from the
Badische Zeitung .
However, he was arrested in the course of the morning.
It is the second homicide within a few days in the west of Freiburg.
This caused speculation on the internet.
"The cases are in no recognizable connection," said the police on Twitter.
The officials further stated: "There is currently no evidence that it was a terrorist attack.
Stop fueling speculation.”

Freiburg – In the west of Freiburg, a man stabbed two women on the street.
After the attack by the 63-year-old on Wednesday morning around 7.10 a.m., one of the two women died in the hospital, the police said.
The second victim, a 30-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The attacker was arrested.
A police spokesman said there were many unanswered questions in the case.
According to the initial investigation, the man and the seriously injured victim knew each other.
The relationship between the two is still part of the investigation.
The police initially gave no information on the identity of the deceased woman.
The age was also initially unknown.
Police say they are investigating a homicide.
