Today, an earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale rocked the city of Coquimbo, in northern Chile.
Reuters news agency quoted the US Geological Survey as saying: "The tremor hit the city of Coquimbo, north of the capital, Santiago, at a depth of 65.7 kilometers."
There were no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the tremor.
