Mask requirement in public transport is expected to be eliminated in February

The mask requirement in local transport in Lower Saxony will probably no longer apply in February.

This was announced by Health Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD) on Thursday in Hanover.

She did not initially give a specific date.

Several federal states had already lifted the obligation, such as Bavaria or Schleswig-Holstein.

Hanover - Behrens emphasized that one wanted to proceed uniformly with the neighboring states of Hamburg and Bremen.

The minister appealed to voluntarily wear a mask on buses and trains after the end of the obligation.

There is currently still an obligation to wear a surgical mask in local transport in Lower Saxony.
