The many Nupes officials in their forties have few memories of that month of December 1995. Young teenagers or older children, many had only felt the social fever through the television screen, and later, in the story of the elders.
At the dawn of the mobilizations against the pension reform, this massive fight against the “Juppé plan” on pensions – already – and Social Security is nevertheless a reference on the left.
It represents one of the last standoffs won by the street against an executive.
“The movement had won socially and politically since there was a dissolution two years later
,” recalls LFI deputy Éric Coquerel, who was already pounding the pavement at the time.
