Two months free – just like that.
This dream has become reality for the employees of a Swiss inn.
This creates excitement on the internet.
Hausen am Albis – The gastronomy in Germany is currently struggling with an enormous shortage of workers.
After the end of the strict corona measures, when business started to pick up again, there was suddenly a lack of employees.
Due to short-time work and layoffs, numerous former catering workers have looked for jobs in other sectors.
Restaurateurs are also feeling the effects of this development in Switzerland.
It is all the more important to appreciate the existing employees.
Swiss restaurant sends employees on paid vacation: "Give the team a break"
Joëlle Apter, who runs the Gasthof Löwen in Hausen am Albis in Switzerland, knows that too.
Therefore, the 46-year-old has sent all 20 permanent employees of her restaurant on a two-month vacation.
This is in addition to the usual holiday weeks.
"Working with us is exhausting, I want to give the team a break," she told the Swiss newspaper
Blick
.
And the employees can definitely enjoy these long company holidays - because they don't have to worry about money.
The salary is still paid in full.
On her own Facebook page, Apter makes it clear why she is taking this step: "We know that the world of work is constantly changing.
In order to get good, committed and loyal employees, you also have to offer good working conditions.” The needs of employees are different today than they were 20 years ago.
Long-term leave for catering staff: "Wonderful and generous"
The action of the lion is very well received on the net.

Showing your employees your appreciation in this way is wonderful and generous.” Another user also praises the extra holiday, but also makes it clear that not every company can afford something like this.
And the reaction of the employees?
"The [...] were very happy, some booked flights to Thailand right away!", The lion owner tells
Blick

Many of the employees use the time to travel for longer periods or to visit family abroad, the inn writes on its Facebook page.
Then, on March 1st, it's back to the high season - which lasts until the end of December.
