Last fall, the city of Nantes was singled out for its insecurity.
The reason: a series of dramatic and sordid miscellaneous events including the rape, by two individuals, of a woman who was returning from an evening with friends or the discovery of the partially charred body of an 18-year-old boy found with shot in the head in a park on the outskirts of town.
In the aftermath, tired of the situation, residents mobilized.
On October 1, a thousand of them marched through the city center to say
"stop"
to the violence and ask the PS mayor, Johanna Rolland, to
"move"
.

The latter, denouncing a
"political instrumentalization"
had conceded to be
"lucid"
about insecurity.
She then made a request for reinforcements to the Minister of the Interior.
A message heard by Gérald Darmanin.
As early as October 4, he announced
"the temporary assignment of a mobile force unit, approximately 70 agents"
