Today, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Sweden's ambassador to Tehran, Matthias Lentz, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, in response to the interventionist statements of some European officials in Iran's internal affairs.
The Director General of Western European Affairs at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said during his summoning the Swedish ambassador: that Europe should seriously fulfill its responsibility to respect the human rights values of other countries, instead of pointing accusations and using double standards.
He added: Westerners exploit human rights as a diplomatic tool to achieve their illegitimate goals, while human rights have originality and their ultimate goal in preserving human dignity and moral values.
He referred to the role of some European countries in spreading violence and hatred in other countries, and said: Interference in the internal affairs of countries contradicts all international rules and standards, and that Iran will certainly not tolerate that, calling on Ambassador Lentz to convey Iran's protest to the European parties.
