After the opening of the investigation in 2018, Irina Shakirov left for Uzbekistan. Only when she recently landed in Georgia was she arrested, and extradited to Israel. The judge is expected to decide to release, along with a request to delay leaving the country, but the parents and the prosecutor's office still fear that she will escape. "She should remain in custody"

The district court in Haifa intends to release the nanny Irina Shakirov, who was extradited to Israel only two weeks ago with great efforts by the international department of the state attorney's office, after four years in which she was wanted for investigation in Israel.

This, on suspicion of abusing toddlers at the kindergarten she ran in Carmel Castle.

In doing so, Judge Nitzan Silman will agree to the arguments of the lawyer Kobi Margolov, who represents her.

She will stay under house arrest at her friend's place and will be asked to deposit NIS 5,000 to guarantee her appearance at the hearings.

This, against the will of the parents, represented by the lawyer Roy Keren and the prosecutor's office itself.

"We are afraid of escapes," said the non-Zoavi prosecutor.

"We fear that she will repeat her actions again and she should remain in custody."

However, Judge Silman mentioned that running away does not appear at all among the charges attributed to the nanny who left the country, and at the same time hinted that he would ask her supervisors for high financial guarantees of one hundred thousand shekels.

He will also request a delay in leaving the country against the caregiver and her supervisors.

Silman is waiting for next week, until then one of the inspectors will return from abroad and technical arrangements will be completed in the apartment of the company that volunteered to host and supervise her.

"They fear she will escape again."

Shakirov, a 37-year-old Israeli citizen, remains free even though the investigation into the affair began in 2018. The police did not request an order preventing her from leaving the country and she fled to Uzbekistan - which does not have an extradition agreement with Israel.

However, after four years, in May of last year, when she landed at Tbilisi airport for a visit to Georgia, the country respected Interpol's request from Israel and signed the extradition order.

Two weeks ago, she was returned to Israel and transferred to the Carmel Castle station, which completed the five-year investigation in a two-day quick procedure.

"After escaping and torturing the parents with legal torture for 4 and a half years, there is an obligation here on the part of the prosecutor's office and the court to strive for a speedy trial and release the parents to their own devices, and not hold discussions about her relief, with handcuffs or not and with what guarantees," said Alona Daniel from the headquarters of the struggle for children .

"Enough, we are tired of hearing about rights and relief for the accused. If she is so interested in finishing her case, she could have stayed in Israel and everything would have been behind her,

Lawyer Roy Keren, who represents the parents: "The children's parents will not agree to Irena's release, and if she is released, we will require the attorney's office to appeal to the Supreme Court. She belongs in the prison and we will not give her a chance to avoid legal proceedings after we waited years until she was extradited to Israel in order to give justice for her criminal actions ".
