With the participation of a group of young people, a consultative workshop to adopt the prototype of the labor market information system

Participants in the consultative workshop held today by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor discussed the prototype of the labor market information system prepared by the ministry, with the aim of organizing job opportunities, at Caesars Palace Hotel in Damascus.

The participants, who represented the youth segment from various university and professional specializations, referred to the goals, objectives and results of the labor market system and the challenges it faces in obtaining suitable job opportunities in terms of market trends, and the development witnessed in the techniques and skills required for job seekers.

During the workshop, which was held in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the prototype of the labor market information system platform in Syria was presented, and a number of proposals that serve the development of the platform and its classification were discussed in a way that facilitates access to and registration, raising awareness of decent work and increasing entrepreneurial projects.

Assistant Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Muhammad Firas Nabhan explained the importance of the workshop and the ideas put forward by the youth that contribute to accessing an accurate database on labor market needs and available opportunities, and developing strategies that enable decision-makers to take actions that support the youth group and facilitate their chances of entering the labor market and linking education outcomes to it.

Hassan Falaha, Director of the Active Labor Market Program at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), considered that engaging young people in developing the platform contributes to enhancing their interaction with it because they are the beneficiaries of it, along with the owners of establishments and companies that offer job opportunities according to certain qualifications and experiences.

It is noteworthy that the labor market information system project prepared by the Ministry and the completion of its main interfaces (the platform) last year aims to reach an approved national information system for the labor market, and includes job seekers, companies and institutions, as well as training opportunities.
