Navalny himself accused the guards of the Melekhovo penal colony on Twitter.

"Looks like they're using it like a bioweapon," Navalny wrote on Twitter - or his team via his account.

Supporters and family members of the Kremlin opponent, who is being held in a Russian prison camp, have once again expressed concern about the 46-year-old's state of health.

Navalny was again unable to attend a court hearing because he was too ill, his spokeswoman Kira Jarmysch wrote on Twitter on Thursday (January 12).
