Pastor Josef Fegg can look forward to a prominent guest.

His New Year's resolution is to attend the service in Rottenbuch.

Rottenbuch – For many, the new year begins with good intentions.

The well-known cabaret artist Wolfgang Krebs is no exception.

He wants to come to Rottenbuch - but not for one of his coveted performances, but for a church service that he has planned.

In an interview with the local newspaper, Pastor Josef Fegg reveals how this came about.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.)

Mr. Fegg, a prominent visitor was announced for you on Sunday.

According to his own statements, cabaret artist Wolfgang Krebs wants to implement a resolution and attend your service.

What do you make of it?

That's one of the best New Year's resolutions I've ever heard (laughs).

Krebs revealed in the Süddeutsche Zeitung that he met you at the Wiesn.

How did that happen?

I've been a regular guest of the innkeepers in the Hofbräuzelt for a number of years.

We then meet in the parlor, where Franz Josef Strauss used to sit, say a prayer together for the employees and then drink another pint.

That's where I met Wolfgang Krebs, he's one of my Oktoberfest acquaintances, so to speak (laughs).

Since then we have been in contact.

I've also been to visit him.

Were you surprised by his announcement that he would come to your service?

Yes, that actually surprised me when I found out about it from the newspaper.

It has to be said that Wolfgang Krebs was very interested in what I do as a pastor.

He is someone who speaks very appreciatively about our work, I think that's nice.

I'm curious now if he really comes.

Do you feel pressure when Krebs, looking ahead to his visit, says that in this time of crisis we live in, it's safe to look to professionals for inspiration?

Fancy a voyage of discovery?

My space

No, I am so professional that everyone can find inspiration in my service, no matter who is in the audience.

Apart from that, our work is not all that different.

Like the cabaret artist, it's also about lifting people up and brightening up their everyday lives.

We just do it in very different ways.
