2023-01-13T16:08:30.926Z

On Instagram, the High School Musical actress reveals that she has suffered from this autoimmune disease for several years and shares her advice for combating her symptoms.

“In my early twenties, I noticed that there was like a little bald spot on my hairline.

I asked my colorist what it was.

She said to me "oh, it's alopecia", says Ashley Tisdale in a video posted on Wednesday January 11 on her Instagram account.

Facing the camera, the actress confirms to her 15 million subscribers on the social network that it was indeed this pathology causing sudden and abnormal hair loss: "I did not know what it was, so I went to see my dermatologist and she diagnosed me with alopecia.”

The ex-Disney star then explains that it is an “autoimmune” disease and “a large part of it is triggered by stress” in his case.

“I was going through a really stressful time.

Fortunately, it always ends up growing back, but there have been times in my life where I have experienced very stressful events and I have noticed that it has come back”, confides the interpreter of Sharpay Evans in the

trilogy .

Yoga, meditation and “PRP”

The 30-year-old then shares the solutions that have worked for her in her fight against the disease, hoping that her advice can help people who suffer from the same ordeal.

She says she took up yoga, meditation and went to therapy to "learn how to deal with her stress."

Ashley Tisdale also declares having had recourse to injections of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), a technique resulting from research in regenerative medicine and cellular therapy which makes it possible to revitalize weakened hair and slow down hair loss.

This method consists of centrifuging your own blood to concentrate its growth factors, before reinjecting it into the sparse areas.

"[My hair] grew back super fast and that area was never affected again," she says.

"I had it done again behind my ear recently, so hopefully it will be the same and grow back soon enough."

She admits, however, that the treatment is “expensive” but “effective” and “awesome”.

Finally, the creator of the cosmetics brand Frenshe also suggests following a “paleo-autoimmune” diet (also called “AIP diet”).

According to her, adopting this diet for 30 days from time to time would “help eliminate and reintroduce inflammatory foods to heal through the intestinal tract.”

All these tips are obviously to be taken with precaution and it is necessary to talk about them with your doctor before indulging in them.

“Know that if you are struggling with this, you are not alone,” concludes Ashley Tisdale.

Indeed, by speaking publicly, the American singer wants to break the taboos around hair loss.

"Alopecia and hair loss are quite common, but many people feel embarrassed to talk about these issues," she also captioned her Instagram post.

“Any kind of hair loss can affect your self-esteem, especially if you feel like you're the only one going through it.

That's why I want to talk about it openly - because there's nothing to be ashamed of.

Sometimes it's related to hormones, other times to heredity, and for me it's related to stress overload.
