Vilnius-Sana
The authorities in Lithuania announced the explosion of the Amber Grid gas pipeline linking the Baltic states with Poland in the town of Paswalski in the Vinkemo region.
And the local LRT news website quoted Gentotas Gigozenskas, the town's mayor, as saying in a statement today that "a high-pressure gas pipeline exploded near the Paswalski Siauliai highway, which led to the flames rising to more than fifty meters," noting that no casualties were reported until right Now.
Gigozenskas added that there are no residential buildings close to the site of the explosion, but no one knows to what distance the residents should be evacuated, pointing out that detours are currently being used to keep citizens away from the scene of the accident.
In turn, the local operating company confirmed on its website that the gas pipeline exploded without leaving any victims, indicating that investigations are still underway to find out the causes of the explosion.
