District – Recently there have been more and more incidents.

Fraudsters make money with shock calls.

The police made an arrest on Tuesday, January 10th.

In the past few days, there have been a large number of fraudulent calls throughout the area of responsibility of the Oberbayern Süd police headquarters.

Now the criminal police with central tasks of the police headquarters Oberbayern Süd reports the arrest of a so-called money collector.

The police headquarters again shows the scam of the shock callers: "Hello, this is the police.

Your daughter is sitting next to me.

She caused a serious traffic accident in which a child died.

She now has to go to jail for this, unless she can immediately pay a bail of 50,000 euros.” The stories that are dramatized by the loud weeping or sobbing of the supposed relatives in the background go like this or something similar.

Bad luck for the fraudsters in one case in the Freilassing area was that they called a retired police officer.

"Of course, the former detective was aware of the scam and he allegedly responded to the demands of the unscrupulous fraudsters," reports the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South.

At the same time, he informed the colleagues at the Freilassing Police Inspectorate, who arrested the 26-year-old man picking up the money on the spot and handed him over to the responsible colleagues at the police headquarters a little later.

The man is Polish.

The public prosecutor's office in Traunstein filed an application for arrest on suspicion of a crime of commercial gang fraud.

the 26-year-old is now in custody.

Only recently two people from Warngau fell for the so-called grandchild trick.

Meanwhile, the police continue to warn of these perfidious scams and strongly advise:

  • Do not allow yourself to be put under pressure, not even by allegedly urgent investigations, e.g.

    B. to a burglary in the vicinity or an urgent deposit to be paid!

The police will never ask you for cash, money transfers or valuables to conduct an investigation!

    Just hang up!

Never give out information about your belongings, your cash and your valuables on the phone!

    Just hang up!

Do not let anyone into your home who wants to see where you keep your money or jewellery!

Never call back using the number displayed on the phone!

    DO NOT press redial.

Hang up and then dial the emergency number 110!

Always file a complaint with your police station, even if you try it!

The younger generation in particular is expressly requested: Speak openly about the perfidious scams of telephone scammers and thus sensitize your close relatives and acquaintances who could become victims of such sneaky calls.
