Colombian striker Mayra Ramírez, an international with her team, suffered racist insults during her team's Copa de la Reina round of 16 match, Levante UD, against Alhama CF.

The episode has provoked this Thursday a unanimous condemnation of both the two clubs involved and the Colombian Football Federation, which requested that there be sanctions.

According to the minutes of the match, played on Wednesday in the town of Murcia, racist insults were uttered against the soccer player from the stands and by local supporters, forcing judge Ylenia Sánchez Miguel to stop the match at minute 85 and the entrance of the Civil Guard, informs the Europa Press agency.

After just over three minutes of interruption, the game resumed.

Levante conceded two goals in extra time and lost 5-3.

"We ask the Spanish soccer authorities to initiate the investigations that lead to the corresponding sanctions, in the face of publicly known and repudiated acts," said the Colombian Federation in a brief statement in which it rejects the insults suffered by Ramírez (Sibaté, 23 years ).

The forward has been called up to the women's team since 2018, with which she won the gold medal at the 2019 Pan American Games. She also participated in last year's Copa América, in which Colombia was runner-up and scored two goals .

Levante has promised to "carry out rigorous monitoring of the actions that the relevant bodies are going to carry out" in a statement that "conveys our deep discomfort and strongest condemnation of the racist insults", as well as full support for their forward.

"Intolerant and xenophobic attitudes can in no way be allowed to continue to occur" in Spanish football, adds the club about a behavior that it describes as "painful" and that "should not be tolerated under any circumstances."

El Alhama also rejected what happened by condemning "any form of racism and xenophobia."

The club promised to identify and expel the "offender or offenders in the event that there are subscribers involved."

"The incidents that have occurred do not represent the vast majority of fans," he lamented.
