2023-01-13T18:26:44.117Z

The maximum will be 84%. And the rate of vehicles with the lowest valuation will be reduced by 50%.

Due to the high inflation, which was confirmed this Thursday to be 94.8% in the last year, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires cushioned the impact of the rise in vehicle valuations with

a cap on the increase in the value of the patents

.

The patent is calculated based on the valuations of the automobiles established by the National Directorate of the Automotive Property Registry (DNRPA).

In the last year, those values increased above inflation.

Repeating an initiative implemented a year ago, and in order to mitigate both the impact of inflation and the increase in vehicle valuations, by 2023

a ceiling of 84% will be applied.

This percentage corresponds to the accumulated inflation during the period November 2021-October 2022 in the City Consumer Price Index (IPCBA).

As reported by the Buenos Aires Government,

if this cap were not applied, the tax update would have been 123%

.

As a result of the application of the IPCBA, the average increase for the total number of vehicles will be 75%, below the cap implemented.

Additionally, for this year the tax rate for vehicles with the lowest valuation -those whose tax value does not exceed one million pesos- will be reduced by 50%, so that their value will remain at 1.6%.

The measure will benefit the owners of approximately 320,000 vehicles, out of a total register of one and a half million vehicles.

With this modification, the rates that are applied to the tax valuation of each car to calculate the patents were as follows:

  • Fiscal value less than $1,000,000: 1.6%

  • Greater than $1,000,000 up to $4,900,000: 3.2%

  • Greater than $4,900,000 up to $6,750,000: 4.0%
