Fernández and 'Argentina 1985': from opportunistic applause to real pressure

2023-01-13T17:40:38.331Z

The President hangs on the success of the film and says that democracy must be defended. Luis Moreno Ocampo, one of the 'heroes', denounces the impeachment attempt to the Supreme Court.

Weightless and opportunistic,

Alberto Fernández clung to the international award for the film "Argentina 1985"

almost before the director Santiago Miter came down from the stage after receiving the statuette.

“The Golden Globe in Argentina 1985 is a new and enormous joy.

Congratulations to the entire team…”, the President wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

Without their own goals (and with several against)

the Government and the President desperately need to celebrate the goals of others

, trying to grab some merit that does not belong to them.

They tried to do it with the world champion team upon their return from Qatar, and were snubbed by Messi and the footballers, warned of what the invitation to La Rosada was hiding.

The local success and now the international recognition of the film offers a new opportunity, and

the President throws himself in

: not only did he tweet about the award, but he also included an image of Darín and Miter in the campaign video with which he surprised the Wednesday, as if he had anything to do with the play.

Pure advantage, the idea of hanging from the bandwagon of the winners of "Argentina 1985" offers, however, a peculiarity that should not be overlooked:

the hypocrisy of a government that intends to appropriate a film about the task of a prosecutor

(Strassera) , and the historic accusation of the commanders of the last dictatorship, while accelerating the attempt to impeach the Supreme Court and during the past year it did not cease in its pressure on the prosecutor Luciani for his work in the corruption trial in the that Cristina Kirchner was sentenced.

If anything characterized the Fernández administration, in addition to its general ineffectiveness, it was its attack on judges and prosecutors, and in the imaginary future script of a film, the President and his vice-president would clearly not appear among those who fought for the free exercise of Justice.

It was the same Alberto Fernández who today inflates his chest for the feat of Strassera played by Darín, who said a few months ago in a television program:

"Until now, what happened with Nisman was suicide, I hope prosecutor Luciani doesn't do something like that" .

In those days Luciani was carrying out the accusation against Cristina Kirchner, nothing less than the vice president, and the political leader with the most power.

Without intending to equate tasks or historical times,

Luciani's courage is the daughter of Strassera's courage.

Both accused those who at one time or another held great power.

But upon receiving the Golden Globe, director Santiago Miter also said: "Democracy is something we have to keep fighting for," a definition that was hastily endorsed by Fernández: "As Santiago Miter said, democracy is something for which that we have to keep fighting always”.

The coincidence, however, is deceptive

, and it was evidenced after the award ceremony by former prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo, one of the "heroes" of the film.

“This is a film that talks about a democracy that is under fire.

Just look at what happened in Brazil this weekend, what happened in the United States (…) and even

what is happening in Argentina with the Supreme Court trial”

, he said.

This Thursday the Government confirmed the sending to extraordinary in Congress of the projects for Impeachment and expansion of the Supreme Court, that is, its attack on Justice.

To the one who applauds false in the cinema but squeezes in reality.
