Gang violence in the middle of Munich: 17-year-old shot – bloody act on the front door

The gang violence escalated in Milbertshofen: a gang is now in court that is said to have shot a 17-year-old there.  

Munich – A subway ride in Munich from the main train station to Milbertshofen takes just ten minutes.

But when you arrive in the suburbs from the city, you are partly in a different world - a world full of crime.

A gang is now on trial for allegedly shooting a 17-year-old.

Munich: Several acts of violence among young men – one fatality

According to prosecutors, the 20-year-old leader of the gang shot a 17-year-old in the stomach.

There were three bad incidents of violence last year in the north of Munich.

Young men were injured in two shootings, another died in a stabbing at Korbinianplatz - allegedly killed by a 16-year-old perpetrator.

Just a few hundred meters away, a crime took place that is now dealing with the district court: Five young men are said to have caught a 17-year-old on Milbertshofener Strasse at home and severely beat him with aluminum bars they had brought with them.

According to the public prosecutor's office, a member of the youth gang then fired another shot, which hit the 17-year-old in the stomach and almost killed him.

He only survives thanks to an emergency operation.

In court, the members of the youth gang remained silent about the accused act – they did not even give any information about their personal circumstances.

Why had they attacked their victim so brutally?

The public prosecutor's office can only report on this after the investigation has been completed: "for an unknown reason".

However, there is a suspicion that it was about drug deals.

Because one of the heads of the gang, who was only 17 at the time of the crime, had stashed several hundred grams of cocaine and marijuana in his room.

In addition, a total of 18,915 euros in cash, which probably came from illegal drug deals.

However, the clear leader is a 20-year-old who, according to the indictment, made the plan to visit the 17-year-old victim later – he was also the one who fired the shot.

According to the indictment, the bullet went through the small intestine and exited the buttocks.

The victim is scheduled to testify in court on January 26.

But one thing has been clear since last year: Milbertshofen has become a focal point for youth violence.

The local head of the police inspection, Olaf Schleicher, demanded as early as April: "The police must now go more on the offensive and show more presence." In addition to civil patrols, the use of police horses is also conceivable - to get the situation under control.
