The mayor would like to discuss a parking garage in the old town again.
Opinions differ on this.
"More than 100 parking spaces" demands Ernst Gröbmair.
Wolfratshausen – Groundhog Day: The city council should once again think about a multi-storey car park near the old town.
This was announced by the head of the town hall, Klaus Heilinglechner, in an interview with our newspaper.
The topic is a long-running issue - opinions differ as to whether such a building is necessary at all.
New car park in Wolfratshausen?
Environmentalists are against it - dealers want new parking spaces
For the head of the retailer association Werbekreis Wolfratshausen one thing is certain: "We're stuck in a parking jam, we don't have to talk about it anymore." Hans-Joachim Kunstmann still thinks the topic in Wolfratshausen is difficult.
The city's reputation suffers as a result: "If potential customers keep hearing that there are no parking spaces, then they won't even come." disappear from the upper and lower market.
"We can't just delete without creating a replacement," says Kunstmann.
The head of the advertising district considers that the fact that stationary traffic should increasingly disappear from Marktstraße is a very sensible measure: “After all, we want to increase the quality of stay.”
Lively old town of Wolfratshausen commits itself: "More than 100 parking spaces are needed"
It is precisely this goal that the association Lebendige Altstadt Wolfratshausen has been pursuing since it was founded in 2005. Unsurprisingly, the chairman Ernst Gröbmair is extremely enthusiastic about the idea of banning parked cars from the market as far as possible.
Not only there, because some parking spaces are also to be deleted when the western bank of the Loisach is redesigned.
The plans for this measure have been in the drawer for years, and the LAW is pushing for them to be implemented.
"We plan to do a lot for pedestrians and cyclists in the city," says Gröbmair.
However, the city must not forget about motorized traffic.
In plain language, this means: "We urgently need to create replacement parking spaces." The topic is "really important" in order to actually increase the attractiveness of the old town.
Gröbmair is determined: "More than 100 parking spaces are needed."
Dealers want more parking spaces in the old town - the parking garage at Hatzplatz failed in the most recent attempt
In recent years, this topic has often been discussed in the city council, but no new parking spaces have been created.
The city had found an investor for a multi-storey car park at Hatzplatz.
However, because there were discrepancies between the city council and the client during the construction planning, the contract was terminated.
The city council also wanted to build a parking deck on Paradiesweg.
However, due to a legal dispute with a local resident, nothing has been going on in this matter for years.
"It's time for the city council to tackle the issue again and pursue it seriously," says Gröbmair.
If that doesn't happen, the LAW boss fears that resentment will spread among the dealers in the city center.

Bund Naturschutz speaks out against multi-storey car park in Wolfratshausen - and calls for bus and bike improvements

Sigrid Bender does not agree with the demand for a new multi-storey car park.
"We have other wishes than more parking spaces," says the chairwoman of the Bund Naturschutz in Wolfratshausen.
The decision to create more space for cars would automatically flush more vehicles into the city - and with it more fine dust, more noise and fewer bicycles.
"We prefer to work for public solutions", for example bus connections, says Bender.
There was a slight improvement a few years ago with a new city bus route, "but I think that the frequency is not particularly attractive for many people".
This is shown not least by looking through the window of a passing bus: too often the rows are relatively empty.
Maybe that's because
Central car park in Wolfratshausen: Hatzplatz and Hammerschmiedweg are possible
In an interview with our newspaper shortly before the turn of the year, the mayor announced that the parking garage issue would again be on the city council's agenda.
When asked about the location - Hatzplatz or on Hammerschmiedweg, behind the Sparkasse building - he answered evasively: "We're talking about a central parking garage near the old town." You have to hurry up.” Where the car park is built is not important to him: “I could live with both locations.” If he had to make a decision, he would advocate the area on Hammerschmiedweg: “It would be because of the savings bank -Turms not so noticeable.” The city council will probably discuss the question of whether and where the city will build a multi-storey car park in February.
