No joining the club: Maisach finds itself child-friendly enough

Maisach does not have the "Child-friendly Municipality" seal of the association of the same name.
The municipal council thinks that it is already child-friendly and that joining a club has no effect.
Nevertheless, child/family friendliness is kept in mind.
Maisach – The topic has been on the table since mid-2021.
At that time, the SPD had applied to contact the association “Child-Friendly Municipalities” and examine the possibilities.
In addition, family officer Evi Huttenloher (CSU) had requested that deficits in child and family friendliness be identified and questioned as to whether the seal made sense.
The Maisache municipal council recently unanimously rejected both applications – after discussion and improvements to the proposed resolution.
So it was determined that joining the club would not be aspired to.
To this end, they want to talk regularly at round tables about child and family friendliness and strive for improvements.
Outside view
At the request of Angelika Simon-Kraus (Greens), it was stated that for the year 2024 one should again question whether one gets advice.
"An outsider's view often yields different insights," said the social worker.
In Maisach, the participation of children and young people is missing.
You could certainly "go a few steps further than the mayor receiving the fourth graders in the town hall".
You have to “introduce the aspect of participation in a professional way”.
Even if city hall and day-care center employees and representatives of children's and youth facilities are of the opinion that Maisach is already quite child-friendly.

Angelika Simon Kraus referred to a round table that took place in November 2022 and was reported on in the municipal council.
The town hall had invited representatives from day care centers, schools, lunchtime care, the youth meeting place and play groups as well as the family base to present the association and seal "Child-friendly municipality".
The tenor of the meeting, according to the town hall, was that there was no need for a seal for child-friendliness.
In addition, Maisach is already seen as child-friendly among the population, and there is a lot on offer, including in the family base.
But that was just a look from the inside and at yourself, Simon-Kraus objected.
External help couldn't hurt if the community hopefully soon has money for something like that again.
The scarce financial resources were the second reason for rejection.
Participation in the four-year process would cost 33,000 euros.
Name deficits at the round table
24,000 euros are due for an inventory with the participation of children and young people, the creation of an action plan and support for the implementation of specific measures.
Only when this has happened does the municipality receive the seal.
If she wants to keep it for the next three years, it costs another 9,000 euros.
Not included are the much higher costs for the implementation of measures.
The municipal council found that the money could not be invested.
That would also not be communicable to the youth work clubs, said Waltraut Wellenstein (SPD): Their grants have just been reduced.

The next round table is now scheduled to take place at the end of February/beginning of March.
Two deficits have already been identified: the adolescents must be involved more in projects, for example in the design of playgrounds;
and you could set up help islands for children in local shops so that they can get support there in small and large emergencies.
In the district, Puchheim has been a "child-friendly municipality" since 2016, Germering since July 2022 according to the association's website. Otherwise, only Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Regensburg and Landshut are participating from Bavaria.
The association, headquartered in Cologne, was founded ten years ago.
There are 47 participating municipalities nationwide.
