Olivier Faure no longer walks on water in the Socialist Party.
At the end of the vote of the "texts of orientation" - sort of first turn of the congress -, Thursday evening, the outgoing first secretary did not count a brilliant majority.
The results were still not final on Friday, but the major trends gave the Socialist leader around 50%.
He was ahead of Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, the mayor of Rouen, at around 30%, and Hélène Geoffroy, the mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin, around 20%.
A scenario dreaded by the outgoing management who now fears the birth of an
“anti-Faure front”
during the second round on Thursday January 19.
On paper, a transfer without the slightest loss of the voices of Hélène Geoffroy to Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol could, in fact, give Olivier Faure a cold sweat.
“Never has an outgoing first secretary found himself in such a situation!”
, underlines an opponent of the management.
