The comeback of the radicals
In February 2020, when the United States and the Taliban signed an agreement on the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan, the Trump and then Biden Administrations thought they were dealing with “moderates”.
Abdul Ghani Baradar, chief negotiator for the “students of religion,” seemed to them approachable and willing to respect the freedoms and rights of women that the Taliban had trampled on for five years.
Occurring during the chaotic American withdrawal, the irruption of the madmen of God in Kabul, on August 15, 2021, quickly dispelled their illusions.
In just over a year, the tribal misogyny of the Pashtuns, who make up the bulk of their troops, reimposed its iniquitous law forcing Afghan women to wear the burqa and then no longer travel alone before banning girls from secondary school.
Finally, last month, by denying them access to university and school benches.
All justified in the name of a Koran which, in reality, has never proscribed education for women.
