He wanted his son to bear the name of his paternal grandfather, as per ancient tradition but his wife and mother-in-law objected, and he set fire to the future grandmother's van.
It happened in Mariglianella, in the Neapolitan area.
The boy's 22-year-old father wanted his son to be named after his father, Felice, in order to keep alive an ancient tradition, and to honor his grandfather by handing down his name and surname, as had been done with him.
But his wife and mother-in-law were of different opinion, preferring a more modern name for the future baby, considering the tradition now outdated.
A tradition that the young future father, on the other hand, really intended to carry on, to the point of not accepting any of the modern names proposed by his wife and mother-in-law.
'' He will be called Felice like dad '', he would have said to the two women, however not willing to accept the imposition.
And what was initially an animated discussion turned into a furious argument, during which the 22-year-old ordered his mother-in-law not to interfere, threatening to burn them in the van if she continued to oppose the choice of name for the child.
From the threats he then passed to the facts, as the carabinieri of the nearby Brusciano station were able to reconstruct, who intervened following the fire of the future grandmother's car.
The flames also engulfed another car parked near the van belonging to a housewife unrelated to the family.
And so the man will now have to answer for damage followed by fire.
In a few hours, the episode made the rounds of the small town in the Nola area and there are those who have transformed the story into a lottery race with the numbers of the Neapolitan grimace, trying their luck with a trio: 9 (the son), 80 (argument with women) and 64 (fire).
