Jan Köppen moderates the 16th season "I'm a star - get me out of here".

But in the first episode, the new jungle camp moderator has to take harsh criticism.

Viewers discuss his moderation on Twitter.

Australia - the wait is over!

Since January 13, the "Jungle Camp" has been flickering across German screens every day.

This year even with a new moderator, who probably has the most difficult job of all.

Jan Köppen has to inspire an audience of millions and replace the cult moderator Daniel Hartwich.

Spectators tear Jan Köppen after the start of the jungle camp

Jan Köppen must have already figured that it wouldn't be a walk in the park.

After all, his predecessor Daniel Hartwich stood in front of the camera for the RTL show for nine years.

From January 2013 to February 2022 he moderated "I'm a star - get me out of here!" as the successor to Dirk Bach, who died in 2012.

Now it's Jan Köppen's turn and he's already receiving a lot of criticism in the first episode.

It is a well-known fact that Twitter is not the place for fine words.

Under the hashtag "#ibes", many viewers criticize Jan Köppen's moderation.

“I find it colorless and irrelevant.

Not unsympathetic, but I don't even know what his name is anymore," says a Twitter user.

Another jokes: “Can you also choose Jan?

Is it enough if you simply choose 0 for the Köppen?”.

Jungle camp moderators

From 2004 to 2012, Dirk Bach moderated the early hours of the TV format "I'm a star - get me out of here" alongside Sonja Zietlow.

Unfortunately, the presenter passed away in 2012 and was replaced by Daniel Hartwich.

After the 15th season in 2022, he announced his surprising end as a moderator.

In 2023 Jan Köppen will be allowed to do it.

Sonja Zietlow is the constant who has moderated the jungle camp since 2004.

She is an integral part of the show and without her, many viewers would probably lose a large part of the show.

There is also praise for jungle camp moderator Jan Köppen

Some viewers even have suggestions for improvement: "Hey Jan, by raising and lowering your voice you can present the scripted sentences in a more exciting way".

“No matter how much bare skin they can show in the jungle camp, nothing gets stiffer today than the moderation by Jan Köppen,” judges the next IBES fan.

But where there is criticism, there is also praise: "He doesn't do that badly, you have to say.

Better than I expected," wrote one Twitter user.

"I think he's great.

That's when you realize how boring it was with Hartwig..." is another comment.

After all, this is only the first episode of the 16th season.

So Jan Köppen still has plenty of time to show improvements and win the hearts of the viewers.

But Jan has already proven that he can also dish out.

In the first episode, he mocks Martin Semmelrogge, who could not enter the jungle camp because he is stuck in Doha.
