The tigress, about four years old and a type of clouded tiger, escaped in the dead of night from her breeding home and the animal has not yet been found. The vice president of the zoo said that the animal does not pose a danger to the lives of the residents, "it is apparently afraid and went to hide in a tree or hunt some squirrels

A tigress escaped tonight (Saturday) from the zoo in Dallas, Texas, United States.

Her escape led to a general closure of the zoo and the opening of extensive searches.

The tiger, a clouded tiger type, about four years old, escaped from its habitat, and according to the authorities, completely escaped from the zoo area.

In response, the zoo stated that the tiger is not dangerous.

"She is not a danger to humans," Harrison Edel, the zoo's vice president of animal care and conservation, told reporters at a press conference.

"When she's scared, she'll go climb a tree. She'll probably get out of our way, hunt some squirrels and birds and hope they don't notice her," Adele added.

The vice president of the zoo added that it is not clear when exactly the tigress ran away, but he shared that it was known that she disappeared around the morning hours.

In response, the animals also announced a "blue code", which means that a non-dangerous animal is missing.

According to the suspicion, the tigress apparently escaped at night, due to a tear in the net surrounding the compound where it is.

According to Adel, it is not clear how the network was torn, and there is a suspicion that it was human intervention.

In the same compound was another clouded tiger that did not run away, and remained in the zoo.

Finally, Adel clarified that although the tigress is not dangerous, it is not recommended to approach it.

"She still has a lot of claws and teeth," he explained, "We don't want anyone trying to catch her. She's not a domestic cat, she's still a wild animal. But any pictures or tips would help."
