At around 9:00 a.m. today (14th), a man was suspected of evading police pursuit. After hitting multiple cars in the West Kowloon Corridor, he abandoned his car and fled.
Two police officers chased after him, but he escaped, and a car cam captured the chase.
The car cam footage shows that two traffic policemen are on the bridge deck of the West Kowloon Corridor, near the New Kowloon Plaza, chasing a man in a dark coat, who is believed to be the private car driver who abandoned the car and fled after the accident; the distance between the two parties is about 5 To 10 meters, the vehicles in front are all jammed in the queue.
The police seized 12.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine in the private car driven by the man. The case was classified as reckless driving and trafficking of dangerous drugs. No one has been arrested yet.
The police said that at about 9:00 am, officers from the enforcement and control team of the Kowloon West Regional Traffic Department were patrolling Ferry Street near Shantung Street in Mong Kok and found a man suspected of using a mobile phone while driving, so they stopped and checked.
The male driver refused to cooperate and drove along Gansu Street towards the West Kowloon Corridor towards the New Territories. When he reached the West Kowloon Corridor near the Cherry Street Sitting-Out Area, he crashed into three vehicles, namely a private car and a car carrying a child. school minibus and an urban taxi.
The male driver got out of the car and fled. The officers had been guarding with batons. Finally, the driver fled in the direction of Kwai Chung.
After the police searched the car, they seized 12.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine in the car, with a market value of about 7,100 yuan.
After preliminary investigation, the case was classified as reckless driving and trafficking of dangerous drugs, and no one has been arrested yet.
According to the situation at the scene, the suspect had to run at least 300 meters before landing on the road connecting the flyover to Cherry Street; but if he ran along the bridge to Mei Foo, it would take 4 kilometers.
