In the past five days, the number of newly confirmed residents of residential institutions with positive cases was 199, and the number of newly confirmed staff was 54.


In addition, 54 more people died today, the seven-day average death toll dropped to 67.3, and the seven-day average death rate rose slightly to 0.676%, a new high since May 17, with a cumulative death toll of 12,747.


Summary of today's epidemic situation:

- There were 186 imported cases, accounting for 2.4% of the overall case rate; compared with 23,647 airport arrivals on the same day, the confirmed rate was 0.79%, and the seven-day average rate was 1.16%.


- 54 new patients died, the 7-day average mortality rate was 0.676%, the overall mortality rate remained at 0.45%, and the cumulative death toll was 12,747.


-The number of local cases with new mutant virus strains increased by 6, including 36 more cases of BF.7 and 3 more cases of BQ1.1, totaling 210 cases.

The number of confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Hong Kong continued to decline. Today, only 7,749 confirmed cases were recorded, remaining below 10,000 for five consecutive days, a drop of nearly 5.84% from yesterday, of which 7,563 were local cases.

Imported cases continued to maintain a level of nearly 200, and today there were 186 imported cases, accounting for 2.25% of the overall case rate.

There were 186 new positive imported cases, including 17 positive nucleic acid tests (six confirmed cases and 11 asymptomatic infections) and 169 positive rapid antigen test cases.

Since 23,647 people arrived at the airport on the same day, the confirmed rate was 0.79%.

The seven-day average number of confirmed cases dropped to 278, and the seven-day average diagnosis rate was 1.16%.

Among the samples received by the Public Health Laboratory Service of the Department of Health for verification tests for local cases from January 5 to January 11, the samples related to the Omicron mutant virus strain BA.4/BA.5 substrain (including suspected cases) It is about 46.25% (seven-day moving average ratio).

The CHP has been closely monitoring whether the positive test cases involve mutated virus strains through genetic analysis.
